Manx Paragliders is the short name for the Manx Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club which has been active since the 1990s. In the early days the focus was mainly on hang gliding but today only one island resident pilot owns a serviceable hang glider, to the best of our knowledge.
Our agreements with farmers and landowners have been formed over decades and much effort goes into maintaining good relations as well as finding new sites. To help us keep the flying sites we have and to help us bring new sites on board, please support our efforts and Join Us.
The Manx Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club operates under the umbrella of the British Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association and it is a condition of membership of our club that our members belong to the BHPA and therefore carry the third party insurance cover that is provided to BHPA members. Visitors who wish to take out Associate Membership will be expected to hold BHPA or similar cover.
There are curently around 20 active pilots in our club. We welcome new members from the Isle of Man, from other clubs in the British Isles and from overseas and we do our best to make visitors welcome. See our Members Area for details.
We do not have the facilities to train new pilots on the Isle of Man but there are numerous training organisations in the UK and continantal Europe that are approved by the British Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association. See learn to fly for details.
